There was a well-known guy in Aberdeen a few years back who cycled everywhere, in what seemed to be a custom-built horizontal bike - that is, he cycled lying down, his feet at the front, his head at the back. As such, the contraption was low-lying and very hard for people to see if they were driving in big vehicles. Most motorists in the city hated him. Some time ago, he got run over by a lorry that simply didn't see him, and was killed. The taxi drivers of the city rejoiced. At least I think that was a related story - unless I misunderstood your post and it was actually about the history of the sandwich in Indonesia or something.
